Learning to Love Life Again Through HDx Enabled By THERANOVA

Barrie resident Brenda Myron first started dialysis on an emergency basis after she collapsed on her stairs one Christmas day. When she arrived at the hospital, the doctor told her she had just five days to live.

"I'm telling you I was the worst patient they had in here," she says. "I was really sick on that other dialyzer. I was not good."

Although she was told going on dialysis would make her feel better, Brenda says she saw no improvement in her condition. Shewas about to give up when she was asked to try HDx therapy enabled by Theranova.

"When I was asked to go on this THERANOVA trial for Baxter, I thought, 'what do I have to lose?' I was feeling horrible and I couldn’t feel any worse," she says.

By just her third treatment, Brenda had made some major strides towards healing. Due to her lack of mobility, Brenda’s husband of 54 years, Raymond, had made her a bedroom on the first floor of their home, but after starting HDx therapy enabled by THERANOVA, she said she could walk upstairs with no help.

"I’ll never forget that day," she says. "It gave me the desire to continue."

Brenda says that even her 11-year-old grandchild has noticed the positive impact the treatment has had on her life, and she’s eager to continue improving in the future.
